“I Write What I Like”

This is my first blog posting…ever. I suppose I should use it to introduce the site.

I should start by saying that I consider myself a theologian. Undoubtedly, there are a number of ways that can be interpreted. Some will interpret it narrowly based on some prior experience they’ve had, which leads them to think it implies someone who engages in the proselytizing of a particular system of belief. As it relates to me, however, the term theologian has a very different connotation. I mean it in the broadest possible sense of the word.

For me, theology is not about the cordoning off of religious territory, nor is it about the production of a rarified orthodoxy in defense of a particular tradition. I’m aiming for something much larger. As a theologian, my goal is to expand the realm of theology so as to encompass the totality of all that concerns us ultimately and practically. In other words, theology has no borders. My interests are varied and my perspectives on any number of issues are quite dynamic. This may give you some sense of the bricolage you will find here on this site.
